Creator and Operator: 2011-2012

The Day of Digital Archives was a multi-participant blog project to raise awareness of digital archives among both users and managers. By collectively documenting what we do, we will be answering questions like: What are digital archives? Who uses them? How are they created and managed? Why are they important?

Co-Investigator: 2011

The AIMS project evolved around a common need among the project partners — and most libraries and archives — to identify a methodology or continuous framework for stewarding born-digital archival materials. These materials have been slowly accumulating in archival backlogs for years but are rapidly growing as more contemporary collections are accessioned. The AIMS Framework was developed to define good practice in terms of archival tasks and objectives necessary for success.

Digital Collections Librarian: 2005-2008

In January 2005, the “Office of Digital Collections and Research” began digitizing and building a digital repository based on the Fedora architecture. The University of Maryland Libraries, like many academic libraries, include not only the familiar books and journals of the general collections, but many rare and unique materials. The digital collections available here are a part of the University of Maryland Libraries’ efforts to make many of our holdings more ubiquitously available in digital form.
